Step 9: Create Your Product
Now you’re ready to create your product.
There are two basic options: you can write it or record it.
I suggest you record it.
Here are the options I use and recommend for creating recorded products:
(1) First, you can record the product as an audio. You can do this using a conference call line or desktop software like Audacity and a microphone; or
(2) Second, you can record the product as a video using PowerPoint and Camtasia.
For the purpose of this core training, let’s focus on the audio product recording method.
Conference Call Method
The idea is to use your outline to present a teleseminar and record it.
Most teleconference lines have the ability to record your call as an MP3 file.
MP3 is a popular audio format using to deliver and play audio files.
Conference Call Resources:
The paid teleconference call service I use and recommend is Maestro. It has several unique features ideal for interactive training by telephone. A free option is Free Conference Pro.
Schedule your call and invite others to listen in as you record it.
Charge a small fee or make it free.
Also, on the “Thank You” page of the call registration, offer the opportunity to purchase the audio recording of the call at a special discount. For example, if you plan to sell the complete product for $27, offer the audio for $15.
Once you have the audio recording, edit or clean it up using an audio editing software.
Audio Recording and Editing Resources:
The paid software I use is Sony Sound Forge and Adobe Audition. A free option is Audacity. You can also post a project at Guru.com and find someone to edit or clean up the audio for you.
Once you’ve got your audio ready, I suggest that you have it transcribed word-for-word. The service I use and recommend is Get It Transcribed. You can also post a request at Guru.com or Google “transcription service” to find additional options. Note: before you hire someone, get at least three quotes.
Finally, add a worksheet, checklist or tutorial videos, etc. to enhance the product and you’re ready to package it for sale.
